Noah’s Ark Water Park

With 41 waterslides, 2 wave pools, 2 endless rivers, 5 gift shops, 12 restaurants & outdoor lounges, 18 hole mini-golf, 3 arcades, and 1 incredible adventure, Noah’s Ark is definitely worthy of the title of “America’s Largest Water Park.” Furthermore, the park continuously adds rides and slides every year to keep everybody happy and coming back for more. Our family makes it to Noah’s Ark Water Park at least once every summer, and it is still a blast every time we go.

New to water parks in Wisconsin Dells is the Time Warp, the world’s largest bowl ride. “Time Warp” is an enclosed ride and riders feel the effects of total drops of 70 feet and speeds of 30 mph. It’s unlike any other ride I have ever seen.

Some of the other more popular rides include Stingray, Point of No Return, Black Anaconda, and of course the Big Kahuna Wave Pool.

The water park is open from the last of May to the first week of September. Hours are subject to change without notice, but the park is open from 9 am until 8 pm for the most part. For more details on pricing and the 2006 summer schedule, check out the Noah’s Ark website.

Mt. Olympus Water & Theme Park

The Water Parks in Wisconsin Dells at Mt Olympus is in a complex called Neptune’s. Triton, five stories high, is the most first and most noticeable part of Neptune's. It is actually not in the outdoor water park complex, so take note of that. Triton consists of three different 5-story water rides, Triton’s Fury, Triton’s Rage, and Triton’s Challenge.

Needless to say, we tried them all on our adventure there. They are all family friendly rides. Triton’s Fury and Triton’s Rage are multi-person raft rides and allows an entire family to sit in one big tube and enjoy the ride down. Triton’s Challenge is a bit different in the respect that you go down the speed slide by yourself. However, there are six side by side lanes which allow you to race friends, family, strangers, etc.

Walking into Neptune's, The Tidal Wave, one of the Midwest’s largest wave pools, was the first thing we saw. After 10 minutes of wavy fun, we got out and moved onto some of the slides. Mt Olympus has 37 water slides too choose from. We tried the four magnum body slides the Wipe Out, Kamikaze, Corkscrew and Twister first, then did the double barrel tube slide, and finally it was onto Demon’s Drop and Dragon’s Tail. I don’t know if we hit the right time, or if people were scared of the two single person speed slides, but there was no wait whatsoever. Demon’s Drop was first. It is said to be one of the world’s steepest and fastest water slides and I believe it. We found out that it's an 85-foot drop…straight down. The rush is incredible, but I do have one piece of advice, make sure your swimming suit is tied on tight. We then tried Dragon’s Tail, which wasn’t as drastic, but the 7-story double drop speed slide is nothing to sneeze at. And once again, tie those suits on tight.

After these two, we needed a little break so we floated around the Endless River. Although we were a little old for the kid areas, there are a lot of options for the younger crowd at Water Parks in Wisconsin Dells. There are two main water play areas for children, Huck’s Lagoon and Kiddie City, and if I was 10 years old again, this would a dream come true.

Riverview Park and Waterworld

The Riverview Park and Waterworld has a nice mix of water and amusement rides. Obviously, not as big as say Noah’s Ark, but that means it’s usually not as crowded. We went there last summer and only a short wait in line for rides. If you pay for an all day adult or kids pass you get the next day admission free. So if you have a lot of kids and plan on staying in the Dells for a couple of days, this is a steal.

Kalahari Resort

Although The Kalahari Resort is known for having “America’s largest indoor water park,“ the Zambezi Water Park is nothing to sneeze at.

The outdoor water park features 75,000 square feet of activities, including a "spin and flush" funnel ride called the Swahili Swirl, a lazy river, speed slides, a half-pipe flume ride, tube slides, a huge whirlpool, a sandy beach, and much more. Make sure the kids get to experience the Splashdown Safari which has multiple levels of water park fun and includes geysers, twisting slides, a giant bucket and many interactive features.

Not quite as big as the indoor water park at the Great Wolf, but if the weather is nice and warm, it is a great place to soak up some rays and enjoy some family fun. Thunder Bay is only open during the summer months from 9 am to 8 pm.
