First and foremost, finding the Greatwolf.com was a cinch as it is located directly off of the Interstate. That means no driving all over the Dells and no headache navigating through traffic. Our family went to the Great Wolf during the wintertime,
The “Great” Wolf Lodge Rooms
Altogether, the Greatwolf.com has over 300 rooms, suites, and condos to choose from. Also, the resort is open year round and offers specials and promotions throughout the year. So be sure to check the website for specials before booking your room.
We stayed in a family suite, and the room was everything we could ask for. It had all of the typical amenities (microwave, refrigerator, etc.), but the décor and feel of the room was anything but typical. The walls were painted in a natural forest green and burgundy color, making you feel as if you were in the North Woods.
I actually found out that all the room furnishings and accents were hand crafted by skilled artisans from across the continent…so it’s not your typical white wall/odd painting hotel. Besides the family suite, the Greatwolf.com offers 12 differently themed suites and 5 differently themed condos. The suites include: *Majestic Bear *Kid Cabin *Wolf Den *Whirlpool Fireplace *Whirlpool *Family Fireplace *Double Queen Sofa *Double Queen *King Sofa *Family Suite

After checking out our family suite for a couple of minutes, our family did the usual, drop our bags, throw on our swimsuits, and immediately head to the water park.
Indoor Water Park Fun
The water park was not over crowded today, which meant we wouldn’t be standing in any long lines. The water park was enormous with three distinct water areas. It featured over 100,000 square feet of indoor water park fun, including 19 water slides, 6 pools, a lazy river, 2 whirlpools, and more. We liked the newest area that has private cabanas, a wave pool and the 4 lane matt racers. Just a hint here is to grab the inside lane. If hungry or thirsty you can get snack, meal, or drinks whether young or adult right in the water park area. Our favorite ride by far was the Howlin’ Tornado. The entire family could get in one tube and slide and swirl our way down the funnel. Everyone needs to check this ride out, you will not be disappointed. There is also a forty foot tall interactive tree house that with a ring of a bell dumps over 700 gallons of water on everyone down below. After all that excitement, we found the perfect cool down…a relaxing float down the lazy river.
Outdoor Water Park Fun
We can’t wait to go back in the summer and check out the 60,000 square foot outdoor water park filled with slides, and rides, including the Howling Wolf, two intertwining innertube slides, a large activity pool, a lazy river, water basketball, whirlpools, and a children's play area. We have been told by friends that it is one of the best outdoor hotel water parks they have ever been to. Wiley’s Woods
We found out that there is much more to the Greatwolf.com than just the indoor water park. We had heard about the 20,000 square foot, four-story interactive arcade called Wiley’s Woods, and were told by many that we had to check it out. We did exactly that, and were very impressed with what we saw. When you get into the arcade, you receive a wristband programmed with your name and age. It also tracks your points as you progress through the building.The arcade was filled with kids and adults collecting foam balls, climbing up and down nets, using slides and bridges to navigate there way from station to station and increasing their points along the way. It was quite a sight to see, a chance for even the most serious adult to let loose and feel like a kid again,
We concluded our Wiley Wood’s experience in the Yukon Jacks game room. Here we had the chance to play a variety of games such as skee ball and air hockey, all the while collecting tickets which could be redeemed for a large number of prizes. We decided to engage in an intense tournament on the air hockey table, always a good choice.
Loose Moose Bar & Grill
After we enjoyed an afternoon of water park fun, we decided to get a bite to eat. We went back to the room, changed, and headed to the Loose Moose Bar & Grill located right next to the lobby. As the name suggests it is a bar, however, it is suitable for children of all ages. The food was very good, and the burgers were anything but normal “bar burgers.” We also went there the following morning for breakfast.
Besides the Loose Moose, the Greatwolf.com has four other onsite restaurants to choose from. Two cafés, Bear Claw and Camp Critter, the Wolf Den Snack Bar, and a Pizza Hut Express are there to satisfy any appetite. There are also many other food places within walking distance of the lodge, so you shouldn’t have trouble finding something to eat.
Great Wolf Lodge Activities
The Greatwolf.com also has daily newsletter of activities called “lodge life.” I thought it was nice feature and would be very useful for parents as most activities were geared towards children.
For adults the Greatwolf.com resort features the Cameo Spa Salon and the Iron Horse Fitness Center. And for business, there are meeting and convention facilities available.
Driving Directions
For all those who don’t know how to get to the Greatwolf.com , it is very easy. From I-90/94 take Exit 92 (Hwy 12). Go North on Hwy 12 to first stoplight (Gasser Rd). Turn left onto Gasser Rd and go one block. Turn left onto Great Wolf Drive and you are there.

Check-in at 4 p.m. or as rooms becomes available. Check-out is 11 a.m. However you can arrive early and stay late in the water park. Just pre-check-in and get your wrist bands for the water park. You can arrive as early as noon and stay late on the day of checkout.
All guest rooms include free water park wrist bands, have a private balcony or patio, and are non-smoking. We also found out that the indoor water park was not open to the public and was for hotel guests only.
